Pat grew up on a farm in Lowndes County, AL working with timberland and livestock from a very young age. In addition to acquiring an education, playing sports, participating in 4-H club projects, hunting and fishing, he assisted his dad, (a veterinarian), with timberland / pastureland development and maintenance along with the management and care for small and large domestic animals. While playing college football, Pat worked on and received a degree in Forest Engineering from Auburn University in 1990.
From 1990 to 1996, Pat was employed by James River Corporation, in west Alabama and east Mississippi, and worked in timber procurement, timberland management, and on many engineering projects. Projects included roadbuilding, bridge / stream crossings, chip mill and paper mill projects.
In 1996, Pat established a Consulting Forestry business (Mussel Creek Forest Services) that is currently in its 27th year of operation and is based from his homeplace near Fort Deposit, AL. This business has provided landowners, in central Alabama, with complete management services from reforestation to timber harvesting and everything in between including GPS / GIS mapping, timber appraisals, control burning, timberland access maintenance and improvements, timber harvest planning, streamside management and preservation, wildlife management, bulldozing, and other services to maximize the landowner’s return on investment of their timberland. As he has done most of his life, he also maintains a cattle farm in Lowndes County.
In 2016, Pat acquired his real estate license and has been selling land in central and south Alabama ever since. With his 33 years of experience as a Registered Forester and his membership / dedication to the Association of Consulting Foresters, Pat has the ethical knowledge and skills to assist others in selling and buying land with confidence of knowing the potential value and productivity of the land.
